KCSN 88.5 FM - Arts & Roots Radio, is a non–profit, member–supported public radio station broadcasting live from the campus of California State University, Northridge. This is a station that offers something for everyone. Our unique format serves the community with music presented by people who are very passionate about sharing the music they love. KCSN programming is entertaining, educational, and free of top ten formulas, mindless chatter, and opinionated pomposity. At KCSN it’s all about the music!

The Arts music KCSN presents is encapsulated in the 1,000 years of the greatest repertoire you will experience here at 88.5 FM weekdays from 6 am to 6 pm. KCSN provides classical music for connoisseurs and newcomers alike with a place to experience all forms of Classical Art: Chamber music, Solo Recital, Opera, Symphony, Choral Masterpieces, Ancient, and up-to-the-minute Modern Art. From Gregorian Chant to Renaissance Polyphony, Bach Concerti, Mozart Operas, Beethoven String Quartets, Mahler Symphonies, George Gershwin Rhapsodies, John Adams’ Fearful Symmetries, and brand new music from the 21 st Century.
Simply put, KCSN is Better Classical Radio.
Evening and weekend programming shifts to the grand tradition of authentic folk–based Roots music for which America is justly famous: Bluegrass, Blues, Traditional Roots, Eclectic Americana, Swing, Folk–Rock, Surf and Broadway music. You will hear artists like Johnny Cash, Roy Acuff, Bill Monroe, Sarah Vaughn, Billy Holiday, Dean Martin, Duke Ellington, Bernadette Peters, Dick Dale, The Who, The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Lucinda Williams, and The Carter Family. And always one from Bob Dylan! The Roots of Americana.
