A Long, Long Time Ago is simply about early rock & roll up to the British Invasion. Its evolution included northern band rock & roll (e.g. Bill Haley), R&B, rockabilly, doo wop and New Orleans shuffle.
Many of the charted songs from that era included a curious mix of pop tunes that teens accepted well, even cover versions of the originals. This show is about those originals and their connections to other exciting sounds of the time.
And Dave spins the actual rare 45s from his own collection so you’ll hear rarities that haven’t had fresh air for decades. A Long, Long Time Ago with Dave Cameron. These are the good old days!
After returning from Vietnam in 1971, Dave started his lengthy career in radio at WRHY in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. When the station was sold he became a singing waiter in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. There a talent agent approached him and said that instead of wasting time in Pennsylvania he should waste time out in California; so in 1977 Dave hit the West Coast and he’s has been tearing it up ever since.
