WHAT EXACTLY IS HD RADIO AND THE KCSN HD 2 CHANNEL?
Don't be afraid! HD Radio broadcasting is dramatically higher quality audio, far more programming choice and compelling new wireless data services brought to you by KCSN FM radio. No more static, hiss, pops or fades. Welcome to the new world of high-fidelity terrestrial radio!
Many radio stations throughout the country are gradually replacing analog transmitters with HD Radio transmitters. In television parlance HD stands for “High Definition”, which certainly describes the new digital sound of HD Radio. HD Radio marketers use the term “High Def” to promote and sell new radios, but technically the HD in HD Radio stands for “Hybrid Digital”.
KCSN Radio has upgraded our broadcast technology, and we are currently broadcasting with digital HD Radio technology, and also offering a new HD2 multicast channel. Your favorite station KCSN remains in the same place on the radio dial, but when you have a new digital HD Radio receiver, your AM sounds like FM and FM sounds like CDs.
KCSN is broadcasting our regular Arts & Roots programming on our primary signal at 88.5 FM, now called KCSN HD 1. But we are also doing domething very special on our secondary digital channel!
KCSN is now broadcasting our existing overnight Americana programming all day, every day on KCSN HD2. So if you enjoy what you hear in the early morning on KCSN then you will love KCSN HD2. From Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton and James Taylor to Alison Krauss, Peter Case, and Patty Griffin, KCSN HD2 gives you something that you just won't find in Los Angeles radio, real Americana and Triple–A programming without commercial interruption or inane commentary. Just great music and plenty of it!
