When he started his radio career in 1978, all Jim Nelson wanted to do was be on the air playing great music for interested listeners. Along the way, he got his wish doing weekends for a short while at KCAL-FM/San Bernardino, but mostly he got sidetracked working behind the scenes at KLOS, KTWV and the old KWST in Los Angeles, and several other jobs within the national radio industry, including many years working at syndicated radio shows Rockline, PowerCuts and In The Studio.
Nelson also spent two decades as a freelance music writer for Paste, Performing Songwriter, RIP and Request magazines, and a decade and a half as an editor and writer at radio publications The Album Network, Radio & Records and Triplearadio.com.
Doing mornings for KCSN has finally brought Nelson’s career back to where he intended to be—on the air. A lifelong student and fan of baseball, music and American history, since 2004 Jim has also run A Taste Of Triple A, a monthly sampler of new music for the adult rock and Americana radio formats nationwide.
