Mike Mahaney is dedicated to presenting the newest and best Americana music currently on the charts and spinning across the United States. With a mission to create something exciting and represent the singers and songwriters that are making today’s music their own, American Weekend is the perfect way to start your Saturdays on KCSN.

The playlist is being created with input from the Americana Music Association chart. This nationally–recogonized resource is the life blood of the Americana music movement. Each and every week you’ll hear new music, and the top–40 from the chart. The very latest releases from the likes of John Hiatt, Lucinda Williams, Rodney Crowell, and Sheryl Crow. And new music from bands such as the Derailers, Milton, Tejas Brothers, Yarn, The Wrights, and The Youngers.

Mike is a founding member and advisory board member for the Western Music Association. His background includes Broadcasting for KCRW and KCSN FM in Los Angeles & KBBQ in Ventura, Ca. He was one of three that instituted the McCabes Concert Series in 1969 and began performing at the Topanga Banjo and Fiddle Contest with the band Trailmix back in 1980, a fine tradition that continues on in 2009.
