Weekday morning News Updates at 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, and 8:00 am (PT)

The KCSN Evening Update weeknights at 6:00 (PT)

From the wildfires that swept across the southland to the L.A. Riots and beyond, KCSN News provides in–depth coverage of the events and people who impact life in the Valleys and the greater Los Angeles regions. And CSUN Journalism students are there to cover the story.

Weekday mornings, listeners wake up in the know, thanks to KCSN News reports at 6:30, 7:00, 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. The KCSN Evening Update, (6:00 pm, Monday–Friday), wraps up the day’s events and provides feature reports on the most compelling topics, from a gripping look at teenage pregnancy to an intimate profile of a sports legend.

Under the direction of News Director Keith Goldstein, KCSN News is entirely anchored, reported, produced and written by CSUN journalism students. Student reporters are sent to cover the same stories as profession/commercial radio stations, who strive to bring listeners in–depth, thoughtful and well–rounded news coverage with a fresh perspective.

The KCSN News Department has snared an impressive number of top honors; over 400 in national, state and regional competitions since 1987, including 54 prestigious Golden Mikes and 22 Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television New Directors Association. Cal State University, Northridge’s Journalism Department is considered by professionals in the field as one of the top departments in the nation.

January 28, 2008–The KCSN News Department has won its 55th “Golden Mike” in Division B from the Radio Television News Association of Southern California. The award for “Best News Reporting” was presented Saturday night in Universal City to former Broadcast Journalism student Joannes Pamatmat for her four and a half minute story on “Driving Distractions”.
