Canadian native joins Bilingual Sounds host Byron Gonzalez
Interview + 3 song performance (featuring Raye Zaragoza) from The SoCal Sound Sessions
Aysanabee is Oji-Cree, Sucker clan of the Sandy Lake First Nation, from Northwestern Ontario; now living in Toronto, joins Bilingual Sounds host Byron Gonzalaz to discuss his debut album Waitin, as well as his latest EP Here and Now.
The debut album Waitin was named after his grandfather, which has 10 tracks and 9 interludes, and as he describes the the album during the interview "It was a series of conversations I was having with my grandfather" which has a lot to do with retaining indigenous culture in Canada.
Aysanabee has also teamed up with Raye Zaragoza to write "Come Down". Zaragoza is also indigenous/mixed decent (Mexican, Japanese, Taiwanese and Akimel O'otham decent).
Explaining during the interview, there was a "Often Times, when you write a song with another person, it's for one artist or the other. This one had a deep connection to us both, and I think it shows"
