As pop music critic of the Los Angeles Times from 1970 to 2005, Robert Hilburn was one of the most widely read pop writers of the rock ‘n’ roll era. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination committee, Bob has interviewed and written about virtually every significant musical artist of our times, including John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Marley, the Clash, Prince, Michael Jackson, U2, Sinead O’Connor, Eminem and Jack White.

On “Rock ‘n’ Roll Times,” Bob will not only play the music of the great figures of rock, country, folk, soul music, hip-hop, punk and Americana music styles, but he’ll also reflect on his experiences with those musicians. A native of Natchitoches, La, the oldest town in the Louisiana Purchase, Bob left the LA Times in 2006 to write books. The first was a memoir titled “Corn Flakes with John Lennon.” He is now working on the definitive biography of Johnny Cash. There’s more about the books and him at his website:www.roberthilburnonline.com

Bob was a member of the first graduating class of California State University, Northridge when it was known as San Fernando Valley State College, where he was editor of the of campus newspaper for three years. Bob loves listener feedback so please send any thoughts on the program, including themes for future episodes.
